| United Business Media acquires the IDMF and ECDM from Reed Exhibitions and announces plans to incorporate the two events into Internet World, Technology For Marketing & Advertising and Call Centre Expo | |
| 21 August 2008 London, 29 July 2008. UBM’s Live Media Division, organisers of the Internet World, Technology For Marketing & Advertising and Call Centre Expo exhibitions, is pleased to announce its acquisition today of the International Direct Marketing Fair (IDMF) and Ecommerce & Digital Marketing Expo (ECDM) from Reed Exhibitions. The IDMF has had its challenges in recent years with both visitor and exhibitor attendance, and the proposed launch of ECDM has not been well supported by prospective exhibitors. Given the current position of these events and the strong portfolio of multi-award winning products already run by UBM’s Live Media division, it has been decided that customers will be better served by incorporating both the IDMF and ECDM into Internet World, Technology For Marketing & Advertising and Call Centre Expo. Mark Snell, Group Director, comments, “While we review the potential for the IDMF to be re-launched in 2010 we believe that the short term interests of the market and our customers will be best served by incorporating both the IDMF and ECDM exhibitors into our current events for 2009.” As a result, Internet World will maintain its current date line but move back to Earls Court 2 where it will take place alongside Reed’s Infosecurity Europe and VCM Exhibition's Service Desk & IT Support Show, taking place in Earls Court 1. Internet World will therefore benefit from relevant crossover visitors which will provide additional technical buyers to the record numbers of marketing, new media and ecommerce buyers the exhibition currently attracts. In addition Internet World will also have direct access to the IDMF attendee databases as well as drawing on UBM’s vast data assets and our media & association relationships to ensure the event continues to deliver and grow a first class audience to Internet World. Snell goes on, “We have a long and successful pedigree in this sector. With our marketing strength, our data assets and our media & association relationships, the needs of the market and our customers will be better catered for by extending our existing events in this way”.
