| “Internet World Walkabout” Viral Game Tops Charts with over 1.5m plays | |
| 16 April 2008 Internet World today announces the success of their viral game, Internet World Walkabout, which has seen 1.65m people playing since it was launched just 4 weeks ago. The game, designed by TAMBA Internet, currently sits top of the Viral Chart which tracks successful viral games across a number of sites. Internet World, one of CMPi’s exhibitions, continues to embrace numerous cutting edge social networking and other Internet tools to reach out to their target market. The Sims-style game adds to the growing stable of applications that allow internet-users to interact before, during and after the event that starts on 29th April 2008. The game asks the player to guide visitors around a range of areas of the show. After completing 3 levels (to represent the 3 days of the event), players are invited to register for free tickets, so they can guide themselves around the real thing. “We were asked to do a viral game for Internet World to communicate the business arenas the show covers in a fun way that would also highlight the Web 2.0 aspects of the show. As Internet World is focused around the digital arena at large, a viral game was a great medium to reach out to a huge number of potential delegates,” commented Kay Hammond, TAMBA Internet. “The game has been a fantastic success for both Internet World and TAMBA. We’ve been able to increase our Web 2.0 activity and also add a touch of fun to our website. Topping the Viral Chart is a real bonus and it had clearly added to the buzz around Internet World,” added James Drake-Brockman, Event Director of Internet World. As well as TAMBA’s viral game, Internet World is making full use of other internet applications. To keep up to date with all things digital at the event, you can access their website, weblog, Facebook group and LinkedIn network.
